What Counts As A Dental Emergency
Severe tooth pain, a tooth that has been knocked out or fractured, a lost crown or filling, swelling in the jaw, and unexplained bleeding are all reasons to call us immediately rather than waiting for a regular appointment.
What To Do Before You Arrive
Rinse with warm water. If a tooth has been knocked out, keep it moist, milk is best, the patient’s own saliva is next best, and bring it with you. For pain or swelling, a cold compress to the outside of the cheek can help. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums.
If The Office Is Closed
Call the office number for after-hours instructions. For life-threatening symptoms, difficulty breathing, severe facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, go to the nearest emergency room.
